This project is part of Zaragoza City Council’s commitment to strengthening family support policies and, in particular, with engagement in mental health care, in order to provide them with tools for rest and improve awareness of all members of the family clan. A strategy in line with the Government of Aragon, led by Jorge Azcon, which created the first Directorate of Mental Health in the community during this legislature, endowed in the first budgets with 16 million euros.

“More accompanied”

This is a pilot project which will be developed during 25 weeks (between December 2024 and May 2025), with the aim of serving as a learning experience to promote a stable service in the future.

THE Adcara Foundation will be in charge of the activities, after winning the contract which was the subject of a call for tenders and for which several entities presented themselves. The price budget is 12,485 euros.

The project aims to families residing in Zaragoza who have children with mental health problems and who have received psychiatric care in the past year. It will be developed with technical personnel specialized in the psychosocial field: graduates in psychology, social education, social work or equivalent. The evaluation and orientation of users will be done from the Youth Health Zone of the Town Hall.

As Orós explains, the project methodology emphasizes “ the center for owning a family”, provide social solutions complementary to medical and health treatments, which facilitate the generation of positive changes in their lifestyle.

For this, they will propose “support groups and self-help workshops”, of two hours per week in both cases; but also cultural, sporting and leisure activities for children and their families, in this case lasting four hours and weekly.
