The world strengthens its positions in the face of Trump’s rise to power and Putin’s nuclear threat

Events are accelerating in the war in Ukraine, at a time when everyone wants to strengthen their positions before Trump comes to power. In the last hours, Kyiv attacked Russian territory for the first time with long-range American missiles, those of Joe Biden. In response, Vladimir Putin approved a new doctrine according to whichallows Russia to respond with nuclear weapons.

This resumption comes just after Ukraine attacked Russian territory with long-range missiles with weapons that Russia says are UNITED STATES. Five of the six missiles were intercepted on Tuesday in Bryansk, near Moscow, exactly 400 kilometers southwest of the Russian capital. The last one was arrested just before hitting a military base.

It’s a relevant stage of the war since it would be the first time that American missiles would reach Russian territory. Thus, Putin’s Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, accused the United States of seeking a “escalation“. “The fact that ATACMS (missiles) were used several times this evening in the Bryansk region is, of course, a sign that they want an escalation (of the conflict). It is impossible to use their high technology without the help of the Americans,” Lavrov said.

Putin’s dangerous attacks

SO, Russia has already taken action. That same Tuesday, Putin announced a nuclear doctrine that allows answers with nuclear weapons in the face of conventional attacks that threaten the sovereignty of Russia and Belarus. With this new doctrine, Russia could attack another nuclear-armed country in the event of an attack with long-range missiles against its territory. This defines exactly what just happened.

If they are attacked by a country that, even if it does not possess nuclear weapons, enjoys the support of a power that does, Russia could press the nuclear button. According to Putin, this also happened because Lavrov accuses the United States of being behind the attack.

“We remember what Einstein said: ‘I don’t know with what weapons we will fight.’ World War IIIbut World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones. A third world war could mean the end of civilization”, this is how Putin spoke in 2018 of a possible third world war.

Extreme concern in the Nordic countries

The risk of war, which is now also feared to be nuclear, increases with each passing minute. And this is why countries like Finland and Norway are preparing their citizens for this emergency. Sweden is already distributing a manual door to door in which it calls for preparation for the worst-case scenario, which involves not only having a survival kit, but also knowing how to treat serious injuries.

The country had already sent recommendations in 2018 but the new reality requires us to raise our voices. Thus, the Swedish government has already provided more than 5 million 30 page manuals in which they indicate how to act in the event of war.

Inside, it directly provides advice against attacks, civilian shelters and even explains how to act if nuclear weapons are used. “It is important to also include the possibility of nuclear war and the use of nuclear bombs, Russia is talking about it and even threatening it,” said the director general of the Swedish Civil Contingency Agency, Svante Werger .

It is precisely the Russian threat that made Stockholm change its position, neutral during the Cold War, but recently became a member of NATO. And they are not the only ones, same situation in its neighbor Finland, which also shares 1,000 kilometers of direct border with Russia. They therefore explain to the population how to access existing shelters.

The concern of the Nordic countries is extreme and Norway is also going to distribute this guide: inside they also talk about how to stay safe if the current tension ends in the worst case scenario.

Spain and five other European countries warn Russia they will step up support for Ukraine

The foreign ministers of France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom met on Tuesday and signed a joint statement in which they warned the Russian Federation that they would intensify their “military, economic and financial support for Ukraine.”

The six countries assured in their statement that they were aware that “our common security faces the greatest challenges we have ever witnessed in our lives”, because “Russia is systematically attacking the European security architecture”.

They also denounced the fact that over the past 1,000 days, in their war of aggression against Ukraine, “Russia has killed several thousand people and repeatedly violated international law“. They also considered that “Russia’s irresponsible revisionism” and its “consistent refusal to end aggression” and to engage in ceasefire talks “constitute a challenge to peace, to freedom and prosperity on the European continent and in the transatlantic area.
