Line 7 of the Madrid Metro interrupted its service this Thursday due to flooding caused by the heavy rains that are affecting a large part of the Iberian Peninsula. The accumulation of water in the facilities forced Metro to close the line from Cartagena station to the Metropolitan stadium, as reported by the company itself on its social networks. The outages occurred around 6:30 p.m. and resumed around 8:00 p.m., two hours later.
The service interruption has mainly affected the arrival at the Metropolitano, where Atlético de Madrid starts this Tuesday night in the Champions League against Leipzig. The match starts at 9:00 p.m. and the elimination of line 7 has forced thousands of fans to look for a transport solution, since it is the only metro line that reaches the stadium. The fans themselves have proposed possible solutions to those who had no alternative to get to the Metropolitano. One of them arrives at Las Rosas station and continues walking.
The Madrid Metro announced on its social networks almost two hours later that service on the line had resumed. The service also reported the closure of the Móstoles central station, also affected by the rains and belonging to line 12. Trains have not stopped at this station for more than half an hour, but the incident has now been resolved.
