In the Kaliningrad region, a court sentenced a local resident to six years in prison for spreading false information about the Russian Armed Forces, the regional court’s press service reported.
As the court established, in 2022, a 32-year-old resident of the city of Svetlogorsk l., using his Messenger account, under the guise of reliable messages, published false information about the alleged actions of the Russian Armed Forces and government bodies during the conduct of the Northern Military District in Ukraine.
The defendant did not admit guilt in the commission of the crime he was charged with, stating that he did not commit these acts.
“However, having assessed the evidence in its entirety, the court found the defendant’s guilt fully proven and qualified his actions under paragraph “e” of Part 2 of Art. 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public dissemination of deliberately false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation),” – the message said.
According to the verdict of the Svetlogorsk City Court, he was sentenced to six years’ imprisonment in a general correctional colony.
