Newly appointed Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi hopes to hold bilateral talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, which begins in New York next week, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali told RIA Novosti.
“I hope it will be possible to organize a bilateral meeting (on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly),” – said the diplomat.
The talks in New York could be the first face-to-face meeting of ministers since Araqchi was appointed foreign minister in the government of the new Iranian president in August. Masuda Pezeshkian.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Lavrov would lead the Russian delegation to the annual high-level week of the UN General Assembly session.
