The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, assured this Wednesday that the United States “Follow the path” opened by the Popular Party in Spain and in the European Union after recognizing Edmundo González as the elected president of Venezuela.

“The United States recognizes Edmundo González as president-elect of Venezuela. Follow the path opened by the People’s Party in Spain and the European Union,” the opposition leader said in a message on the social network X.

Feijóo’s statements come after the US government’s State Department issued a brief statement on Tuesday recognizing the Venezuelan opposition leader as the winner of the July 28 elections: “The Venezuelan people have spoken out forcefully on July 28 and named Edmundo González president-elect. “Democracy requires respect for the will of the voters.”

The “popular” managed to approve in September resolutions both in the European Parliament and in Congress and the Senate to recognize the opposition candidate Edmundo González “as a legitimate winner» presidential elections in Venezuela and, therefore, as the elected and legitimate president of the country.
