PSOE demands Feijóo ask for “immediate pardon” for accusing the government of coercing Edmundo González

The PSOE has asked the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, that ask for “forgiveness immediately” to the government of Pedro Sanchez for his accusations of “alleged coercion” against the Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia. This is what socialist sources pointed out to LaSexta after González categorically denied having suffered pressure from Spain, much less having fomented “a coup d’état” as the “populars” say.

“Feijóo must immediately apologize for accusing the government of contributing to the alleged coercion of Edmundo González without any proof“, these sources said. In addition, they insist that the crisis in Venezuela “has no importance” for the Popular Party and that “they only use it to attack” the Spanish government.

For the socialists, the “popular” president “has no sense of state, as he demonstrates by using hoaxes with the sole aim of harming Spain’s foreign policy.” “In the PP there is neither strategy nor leadership, only insults, hoaxes and mismanagement“, they accused.

The socialists have assured that the government “will defend democracy and human rights, a priority of its foreign policy.” And they rely on the fact that this was demonstrated this Thursday by the statement of Edmundo González, in which he stressed the role of the Executive and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares. “Feijoo’s position only confirms the extreme drift of the Popular Party, now only engaged in a competition with Vox to be the most ultra“, they added.

Finally, they also once again demanded the resignation of the Deputy Secretary for Institutional Affairs of the PP, Esteban González Pons. They consider that the “responsible for international relations of the Popular Party has carried out accusations of extraordinary gravityafter accusing the government of trying to instigate an attempted coup in Venezuela.” “Some unacceptable remarks,” they conclude.
