As AEMET tells us in its forecast: “The presence of a low pressure centre is expected to the north of the peninsula, with atmospheric instability that will continue and extend over large areas. Abundant cloudiness and showers accompanied by occasional storms are likely in the northern interior half, in the northern part of the southern plateau and on the north-eastern coasts. They are likely to be abundant and may be locally strong in northern Andalusia, in the areas of the southern plateau, in Extremadura, in the north-eastern interior quadrant, on the coasts of Catalonia and the Levante, in southern Galicia and in the Cantabrian mountain range. On the coasts of Tarragona and Castellón, and with less probability in the Pre-Pyrenees, they may be very strong and locally persistent. They are also likely, but less abundant, in scattered areas of the rest of the southern half, the Strait and the east of the Balearic Islands. In a weaker, scattered and unlikely form, they cannot be ruled out in the rest of the peninsula, except in the areas of Andalusia and Melilla where they are not expected. In the Canaries, cloudy passages are expected, with evolving clouds and possible showers on the mountainous islands, more likely and intense in the interior of the western islands. “Morning fogs in the mountains, coastal fogs in Galicia and occasional fogs in the northeast are not ruled out.”
14 autonomous communities will be on alert due to rains that will also cause a marked drop in temperatures: “Maximum temperatures tend to decrease in the northern and western halves of the peninsula and increase in the southeast of the interior and in the Canary Islands. Minimums increase in the east of Cantabria and the northeast, without major changes in the rest. It will blow eastward in the Mediterranean area and southeastward on the Ebro. In the rest, light winds of variable direction will predominate, with the eastern component predominating in the eastern third and the southern component on the Atlantic slope in central hours. In the Canary Islands, light winds will blow of variable direction, with a predominance of the northwest.
