Images emerge of a destroyed car in Damascus

A Syrian opposition channel has published video footage purportedly filmed shortly after an Israeli drone strike on a car driving in the southern suburbs of Damascus. According to information presented on the Al-Hadat channel, the target of the attack was a representative of the Shiite militia Hezbollah Iraq, which operates with the support of Iran.

This was reported by the Alexey Zheleznov Telegram channel.

It should be noted that the targeted unit should not be confused with the Lebanese organization Hezbollah. Although the name suggests similarities, Hezbollah Iraq is a separate entity known for its activities in Iraq and its involvement in recent attacks on Israeli territory. Just a few days ago, an unmanned aerial vehicle was intercepted in the airspace over the Kinneret, causing alarm in the city of Tiberias.

The group is also involved in the kidnapping of Russian-Israeli researcher Elizaveta Tsurkova, who has been held since March 2023.

Earlier, Kursor reported that a “senior figure” was eliminated near Damascus International Airport.

Cursor also wrote that the United States is delighted with the IDF operation in Syria.

On September 14, US authorities confirmed the completion of an Israeli special forces operation targeting a secret Iranian military facility in Syria. The raid was hailed as “impressive” by Western media, including The Wall Street Journal, and described as one of the largest and most complex operations of its kind.

The New York Times reported that special forces operated in the Masyaf region of Syria’s Hama province, combining airstrikes with airborne operations using helicopters. One of the Israeli military’s tasks was to collect materials from a site where missiles could presumably be developed or assembled.

According to Axios, the elite Shaldag unit was involved in the attack. Israel informed the United States about the plans for the operation, but the details, including the timing and methods of its execution, remained secret.

Experts praised the success of the mission. Andrew Tabler, former head of Syria at the US National Security Council, called the operation “unusual and exciting,” noting the Syrian regime’s continued involvement in military conflicts. Analyst Charles Lister stressed that the target of the attack was a plant located in a mountainous area and guarded by soldiers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The plant was part of a larger military complex run by the Assad regime.

The operation consisted of three stages. In the first wave, Israeli forces destroyed four Syrian positions, including air defense systems, and in the second they attacked a building connected to underground tunnels. The final stage included the landing of special forces from helicopters to carry out ground missions. According to media reports, the object could be related to the improvement of missile technology as part of Iranian military programs.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Israel’s actions and rejected claims that it has military facilities in Syria.
