The Congress, at the request of the government parties -PSOE and Sumar- decided to maintain the plenary session despite the dramatic situation experienced in the Valencian Community due to the passage of DANA, which has already caused more than fifty victims. The spokesperson for the Popular Party, Miguel Tellado, had requested the suspension of the plenary session in solidarity with the deceased and injured. A proposal supported by the socialist spokesperson, Patxi López. However, the extraordinary plenary session took place to validate the decree which imposes a new electoral system on RTVE, lowering the necessary majorities. The Executive had to validate this decree as quickly as possible. PP and Vox were absent and will not vote.
