While a little more than a year has passed since the start of work, the new outpatient consultation building in the maternal and child area of ​​the Queen Sofia Hospital of Córdoba is progressing as planned and could begin operating in the first months of 2026.

The delegate of the Government of the Junta de Andalucía, Adolfo Molinaexplained that the construction work on the new building, which lasted 23 months for a total amount of 20 million euros, is progressing as planned and 48 percent of the project has already been completed. budget.

The works, for their part, are 35% complete and have not suffered any delays, since even the archaeological tastings mandatory tests returned negative results. This means that the planned deadlines are maintained and the building would be ready between the last weeks of 2025 and the first weeks of 2026. When would it operate?

The director of the Reina Sofía Hospital in Córdoba, Francisco Trivinoassured that while the work is progressing and a good part of the building is already visible, work is underway on the equipment, which will be an important part, since it will go from the current 44 consultations to 99 for children and mothers.

“We are working request by request, we are looking at furniture and electromedical equipment,” said the director, who insisted that work is underway so that “one thing continues from the other”, and at the beginning of 2026 the new building can go. operation “of progressive way“.

Adolfo Molina explained that the new building has made notable progress in terms of “sanitation, structure, roofing, masonry and urbanization exterior”, and work is also underway on the ramp, stairs and elevator that will connect it to the general outpatient consultation building, located just to the north. A central square between the two will serve to connect them, he said. he recalled.

In this space, the Junta de Andalucía has staged the explanation of the investment effort it is making in health, both in the infrastructure as well as management, which in Córdoba and its province amounts to 49 million euros. With this, insisted Adolfo Molina, they wanted to refute the assertion that “public health is being dismantled.”
