Azerbaijani diaspora organizations issued statements on the biased position of the Dutch government

Azerbaijani diaspora organisations have issued statements on the biased position of the Dutch government.

Oku.Az The State Committee for Work with the Diaspora has reported this.

It was reported that the government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands presented to the public on September 13 the programme containing the plans for the current mandate. In the “International Security” section of this programme, which covers the growing conflicts, the liberation of Azerbaijani territories is mentioned as the “taking of Nagorno-Karabakh”:

“Azerbaijani diaspora organizations in the Kingdom of the Netherlands have expressed their objections to this. The Azerbaijani Netherlands-Belgium Coordination Council, the Azerbaijani Women’s Union of the Netherlands “Motherland”, the Dutch Azerbaijani Turkish Cultural Association, the Congress of Azerbaijanis of the Benelux, the International Club of Azerbaijani Ladies, Azerbaijan-Netherlands “Yurd of Fire” Society published a statement on the biased position of the Dutch government.”

The statement stressed that it is unacceptable to describe Azerbaijan’s liberation of its lands as “the seizure of Nagorno-Karabakh” and that the measures taken by Azerbaijan to restore territorial integrity are in full compliance with the norms and principles of international law.

In addition, the designation of the Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan as Nagorno-Karabakh was firmly rejected. It was stressed that there is no administrative or geographical unit called “Nagorno-Karabakh” in Azerbaijan, as well as the importance of each state and organization referring to geographical names standardized by the competent authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan and accepted within the framework of the United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names in the internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan.

At the end of the statement, diaspora organisations called on the Dutch government to take an objective and balanced approach and to refrain from making statements that could negatively affect relations with Azerbaijan.
