US presidential candidate Donald Trump, speaking at an event in Washington dedicated to combating anti-Semitism, said the tragic events of October 7 would not have happened if he had been the head of state.
Channel 7 reports this.
He called the day a wake-up call for the world and stressed that American Jews were facing an unprecedented wave of anti-Semitism.
Trump also called on Vice President Kamala Harris to distance herself from those hostile to Israel, criticizing her for her inaction in combating anti-Semitism.
He promised that when he returned to the White House he would take decisive action to curb the problem and become a champion of the Jewish community in the United States, assuring that no one would be a more devoted friend of American Jews than he.
