Page will meet with President Pedro Sánchez in La Moncloa on October 4

This is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated meetings between the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the presidents of the Autonomous Communities, which began today with those of the Basque Country, Andalusia and Galicia. It is a meeting between two leaders of the same party but at opposite ends of the spectrum on many issues related to regional financing, such as Sánchez and the president of the Castilian-Manchego Executive, Emiliano García-Page, who will then face each other. Friday, October 4 at 4 p.m.

There have been several months of direct messages but in the distance between the two leaders, especially from the trenches of Castilla-La Mancha, whose government does not agree, like that of the PP, with the approach that they describe as unequal in terms of financing between Catalonia and the rest of the autonomous communities, which show a total rejection of the possible signing of the Catalan quota.

Beyond the comments of the next few days, we will have to wait only two weeks to see the image in La Moncloa of the meeting between Pedro Sánchez and Emiliano García-Page, in which they will undoubtedly have a lot to say, not only about financing and other issues related to the autonomous communities, but also about the present and future of the PSOE.

A few days ago, García-Page said that he was “looking forward” to holding the bilateral meeting to which he was summoned with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to speak “calmly” and to which he does not renounce “being able to persuade or condition” regarding the position of the Executive regarding the negotiation of the Catalan quota.

In an interview with Tele 5, he explained that no one in the PSOE has yet explained the document that contains the pre-agreement between the ERC and the Socialist Party of Catalonia and that it is only known thanks to the “leak” of the independentists, which he considers to be good because “no one has come to deny it”. And he said that the PSC “is not the PSOE, it is a sister party”, and in any case it is “a success” that it has managed to govern in Catalonia; although, in his opinion, Ferraz is not obliged to share everything he defends.

Regarding the negotiation of the financing of Catalonia, he said that it was a council that “is not explicable” and defined it as “a confusing and embarrassing ceremony”. In this sense, GarcíaPage assured that there are people in the PSOE who “avoid conversations”, which “reveals what the average voter may think of social democracy”.

On the other hand, regarding what represents the greatest attack against Page in the ranks of the PP, such as the proposal that the deputies of Castilla-La Mancha would not support in the Congress of Deputies the most controversial agreements and decisions of the government of Pedro Sánchez. Since the future vote is the only financing for Catalonia, he reaffirmed that the final candidacies are designed by Ferraz and not by the general secretaries of the PSOE. “They did not vote for some in their province and that’s it,” he said.
