Israeli Air Force attacks Beirut, killing commander of Hezbollah’s elite forces.

Hezbollah elite forces commander Radwan Ibrahim Aqil was killed today during an Israeli airstrike on the Lebanese capital Beirut, Al Hadath TV reported, citing sources.

“Sources confirmed on Friday that an Israeli strike in the southern suburbs of Beirut killed the commander of Hezbollah’s elite units in Lebanon, Ibrahim Aqil.” – the television channel reports.

According to sources, an Israeli F-35 fighter jet carried out a strike in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital. Meanwhile, a source close to Hezbollah told AFP that the Israeli strike was “precise” and killed Aqeel. Aqeel, wanted by Washington, is Hezbollah’s “second in command” after Shukra Fuadakilled in an Israeli attack in the southern suburbs on July 30.

At least nine people were killed and 59 wounded, eight of them in critical condition, the Lebanese Health Ministry said.

“The Israeli enemy’s attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut resulted in initial casualties and the death of 9 people… (in hospitals) 59 wounded have been admitted so far,” the ministry said in a statement.

Following the Israeli attack, Hezbollah said on Friday it had bombed a military intelligence headquarters in northern Israel responsible for the “killings.”

Hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel in southern Lebanon are progressing at a rapid pace amid intense surveillance and drone flights over the region.

Israeli broadcaster Kan reported Friday that some 150 rockets were fired across the border with Lebanon. Israel’s ambulance service said there were no reports of injuries.

This is the third attack attributed to Israel in the southern suburbs of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold, since the escalation between the two sides began on October 8, a day after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, Al Hadath reported.
