Pilot of drug boat that killed two civil guards in Barbate port jailed without bail

The Court of First Instance and Investigation number 1 of Barbate (Cádiz) has ordered the imprisonment of Karim El Baqqali, arrested last Thursday for the death of two civil guards in the port of Barbate in Cádiz on February 9.

As indicated by the High Court of Justice of Andalusia, the court ordered, at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office – to which the rest of the charges brought in the case were joined – the entry into provisional prison, communicated and without bail in relation to the events that occurred last February.

Initially, he was charged with two counts of murder, four counts of attempted murder, six counts of attack, one count of smuggling and one count of belonging to a criminal organization. The case was declared secret.

Let us recall that the detainee was presented before the Court this Friday morning. It was then that he admitted in his statements before the Civil Guard that he was piloting the drug boat that crashed the agents’ boat, although he apologized saying that it was an accident for which he apologized.
