The series of meetings between the President of the Government and all the regional presidents has begun, but there is one date that risks being particularly difficult for the President of the Government: October 4th.
After this first series of contacts which started today, next Friday the president of Cantabria will do it, Maria Jose Saenz de Buruaga; that of Asturias, Adrien Barbonas well as that of Navarre, Maria Chivite.
But three other regional presidents have a date for their appointment with Sánchez, meetings on October 4 that will be marked by regional financing. On that day, Sánchez will meet with the presidents of the Region of Murcia, Fernando Lopez Miras and the Valencian Community, Carlos Mazon. And not only that. He will also meet with the president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano Garcia’s page, the most critical socialist of Sánchez.
The president of the Valencian Community follows the line of the popular presidents and has already warned that “we will not tolerate being inferior to anyone not a minute more.”
Demand, as all the regional popular leaders have done, a negotiation with all the regional presidents present. In addition, he points the finger at Catalonia and assures that “I don’t need to go to a dark, privileged room to demand what belongs to the Valencian community.”
Another one mentioned that day is Garcia Pagewho made it clear that he would take advantage of this meeting to “persuade” Sánchez on the Catalan quota.
The regional president does not see “progressive” the regional financing system proposed by the PSOE for Catalonia, considering it “very bad from a constitutional point of view”, but even “worse from the point of view of the essence of the left”, which explains: “It is based on a huge misconception and we fall into the terminological trap, based on the thought that there are 17 riches, that each autonomous community is responsible for our wealth and that we opt for the wealth of a common fund. Wealth is national. The wealth of Girona is as much mine as yours.. The principle of ordinality is not progressive. The autonomous communities do not pay taxes, it is the companies and citizens who pay them. The ordinary is to receive what I give, the State disappears.”
García-Page considers that “no one dares” to put on the table a new financing model, since each autonomous community has “competing interests“The current model, 10 years behind, objectively establishes that Catalonia is not underfunded. If anyone can demand that we be compensated, it is us. Breaking the common system is unacceptable from every point of view,” he comments.
Next on the meeting list is Lopez Miraswho showed his enthusiasm “after almost six years”.
“If this results in an end to the mistreatment and harm for Murcia, it will be a good birthday present,” commented the president of Murcia about the meeting with Sánchez that will take place on October 4, the same day as López Miras’ birthday.
