Stellantis appoints Mónica Mira brand director of Leapmotor

Stellantis appointed this Friday with immediate effect Monique Mira as Country Brand Manager by Leapmotor. A change to which is added that of Alberto de Aza as Director of the Peugeot brand. Both for Spain and Portugal. Both directors will report to the Group’s regional general manager, Pablo Puey.

Mira will be responsible for leading the strategy of the joint venture signed with Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor regarding the development of the brand, the dealer network and the marketing of new vehicles. Meanwhile, De Aza replaces Joao Mendeswho initiates new professional challenges outside the company. In addition, the group reports that Diego Rey has been appointed director of the VUL Business Unit for Spain and Portugal, replacing Alberto de Aza.

In 2009, he joined Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Spain, where he held various positions of responsibility, including After-Sales and Training Management for Spain and Portugal and Commercial Management for Spain.

In 2015 he was appointed country manager of Fiat and Abarth. In 2016 he was appointed CEO of FCA Central and Eastern Europe (Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic) based in Budapest, two years later he was appointed Managing Director of FCA for Spain and Portugal.

In 2021, after the birth of Stellantis, he was appointed Director of the Stellantis LCV Business Unit for Spain and Portugal, a position he holds until today.

Leapmotor Growth Strategy

Among the objectives Leap Engineplans to sell the C10 and T03 electric SUVs in Spain and eight other European countries starting in September. The new manufacturer has adapted its Chinese vehicles to sell them globally thanks to its collaboration with Stellantis. The C10 has electric technology that gives it a range of up to 410 kilometers. The aim of the joint venture is to manufacture between 6,000 and 10,000 units in 2024 (the majority imported) and up to 100,000 in 2025, although the group led by Carlos Tavares estimates that the joint venture could manufacture up to 500,000 vehicles and achieve a gross margin of 20%.

Taking advantage of Stellantis’ distribution channels, the joint venture hopes to increase the number of points of sale for its vehicles in Europe by 200 to 500 by the end of 2026 in order to ensure availability for all customers.

Changes in communication areas

The Stellantis Group has made changes in its areas of Communication and Institutional Relations in Spain and Portugal in several of its brands led by Jose Antonio Leon Captain.
