Likewise, they recall that in previous years the figures were not very favourable either. In 2022, only one out of 79 pediatricians chose a position and, in 2021, five out of 76 new pediatricians ran for this election.
“THE improvement of Family medicine has been notable, but not in pediatrics,” they say. According to the association, the main reasons why pediatricians do not want the positions offered in Madrid are lack of conciliation and overload.
“They are very overloaded, sometimes having two, three or more consultations. We have to think about a reorganization of pediatric care at the level of the Community of Madrid,” said Ángela Hernández, general secretary of the union, in statements sent to the media.

Attempt at loyalty
In this sense, the Community of Madrid has already tried loyalty fourth-year residents of this specialty – which ended this month – with a meeting that took place last June.
More than twenty residents were present, of the nearly 90 pediatricians who were due to finish this month in the regionAlso present were the management officials and members of the Madrid Association of Primary Care Pediatrics.
During the meeting they were informed about “improvements in work and opportunities for developing skills in primary care, which envisage, among other points, stable long-term contracts and salaries starting at 56,000 euros per yearin line with the remuneration of family doctors,” as the Community of Madrid indicates in a press release.

The rest of the places
