In the Turkestan region of southern Kazakhstan, a prisoner riot occurred in one of the colonies, as a result of which three employees of the institution were injured.
This was reported by TASS, citing the press service of the Committee for the Penal Executive System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the department, some prisoners expressed disobedience because of disagreement with the detention regime.
The victims are reported to be two National Guard soldiers and an employee of the criminal justice system department.
The Interior Ministry said the situation had now stabilised. The institution now houses the chairman of the committee, the management and staff of the local department of the penal correction system.
National Guard personnel and representatives of supervisory authorities are present at the scene. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident.
Previously EADaily reported that a riot broke out in a maximum security colony – IK No. 4 – in the Saratov region, prisoners broke several windows and doors. The colony leadership was forced to call in special forces.
