Route along the Camino de Vecilla
The Camino de Vecilla route, also known as PRC-VA 16, is one of the best known in the territory. It is a circular route of just under 6 kilometers long and with an estimated duration of 1 hour and a half, which leads to the banks of the Pisuerga river from where you can enjoy the nature of Valladolid .
The path begins at the Church of Santa María de la Asunción, in the municipality of Cabezón de Pisuerga, from where you will have to walk several streets towards an area of wineries. After that, we will have to continue for 2 kilometers of slope through the Valdecastro moor, a place full of multiple species of trees.

In this way, the tour begins in the wine growing area, from which you must face the Cerro de Altamira, an area where Aleppo pines are abundant. Once you arrive at the highest part of the Páramo de Valdecastro, it is possible to stop and enjoy the view of the Vega del Pisuerga and the Montes Torozos, as well as a historic bridge of Roman origin.
Continuing the marked path, you will have to travel through an area with different slopes, traced by the wear and tear of the river over the centuries until you reach the monastery of Santa María de Palazuelos, belonging to the Cistercian Order of Castile for three centuries .
