Currently, the management of the Bolshoi Theater (SABT) is trying to optimize the schedule of performances of the ballet “The Nutcracker” during the New Year holidays to meet public demand and not harm the dancers. This was announced by Honored Artist of Russia, soloist and theater tutor Gennady Yanin.
“The Nutcracker” is always a sore subject for us, in a good way. We are very happy to show it in any quantity, as long as our forces are sufficient. And, fortunately, the demand for this performance at the Bolshoi Theater does not decrease. There is no schedule yet, because now the theater director is working on optimizing this schedule, making sure that both the sheep are safe and the wolves are fed, that is, to satisfy the interest of the public and not kill the troupe. “ – NSN quotes the artist.
Yanin recalled that in the winter season the famous ballet by Piotr Tchaikovsky is a priority, but the theater also works with other ballet productions. In his opinion, the announcement of the actions is being delayed because the optimal schedule has not yet been drawn up.
At the same time, Yanin denied information about the sale of tickets to “The Nutcracker” to corporate clients, which was previously published by the “Ruthless PR Man” telegram channel. It was claimed that tickets were sold to large corporations in packages of 50 million rubles per night. That’s why the Bolshoi’s programming ends on December 11: the remaining nights are probably reserved for corporate events.
“We still don’t have conversations about any closed corporate events. I’ll tell you a little secret: it’s always much easier to get tickets for the January “Nutcrackers” than for the December ones. Therefore, if someone wants to see the ballet and not perform at the Bolshoi Theater before the New Year, please, it is always much easier to do it in January.” – Yanin advised.
