Ecuadorian cyclist Kevin Pozo24 years old, died after a collision while training in El Juncal, Imbabura province. All because of a truck who was traveling in the opposite direction to that of the corridor, according to family sources.
“The FEC regrets the sensitive death of Kevin Pozo, cyclist of the team ‘Sin Fronteras JN’. We express to his family and friends our sincere condolences and solidarity. “Peace in his grave,” said the Ecuadorian cycling organization.
According to journalist Ernesto Almeida, The person responsible for the accident has already been arrested. and is in Bolivar for a preliminary hearing.
In 2021, Pozo placed 12th in the National Cycling Championship, a year in which he also won the queen stage of the Vuelta a Nariño.

Reactions to his death were not long in coming. Richard Carapaz, gold medalist at Tokyo 2020 and Giro champion in 2019regretted this tragic event.
