For his part, the president of the socialist group in the Assembly, José María Vergeles, warned that Extremadura was experiencing “consequences” of the “climate emergency” on issues, among others, such as animal health through diseases such as bluetongue, and asked the Council to act to defend the sector from its consequences and abandon the “contempt” to which it has been subjected until now.

In this sense, he warned that in the Extremadura budgets for 2025 “Nothing about blue tongue appears on page 23”, and demanded that the Council compensate the sector for the “losses” it suffers because of this disease.
