The parades mark the start of Holy Defense Week, which commemorates those killed in the Iraq war that lasted from 1980 to 1988. In Tehran, the main event took place at the mausoleum of the founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

Speaking at the ceremony, Pezeshkian said Iran is not only capable of defending its country, but also of maintaining peace and security in the region. He also stressed Iran’s readiness to confront Israel, accusing it of genocide and aggression that, according to him, does not spare women, children and the elderly.

During the parade, the Iranian military demonstrated the latest weapons and equipment. Particular attention was paid to the latest Fattah hypersonic missile, which made Iran one of the few countries with such technology.
