In Japan, on the island of Honshu, 30 thousand people were evacuated due to heavy rains.

On the Japanese island of Honshu, in the western prefecture of Ishikawa, an evacuation has been announced affecting 29,750 people. A threat level of four out of five has been issued for the area.

According to local media, the prefecture was hit by the heaviest rainfall in decades. At least one person is missing. Around 4.8 thousand houses were left without electricity.

Most houses have lost power. In total, 12 rivers have overflowed in the prefecture. Emergency services and police are receiving numerous requests for help.

Prefectural officials told reporters that evacuations had been announced for the cities of Wajima and Suzu. By the morning of Sept. 21, 257 ml of precipitation had fallen, a record amount since 1975.

The situation in these settlements is complicated by the fact that their infrastructure has not yet been restored after the earthquake in January 2024.

Previously EADaily Budapest authorities are preparing for the peak of the flooding, he said. The expected level of the Danube in the centre of the Hungarian capital will be around 8.5 metres, with a normal height of 3.5 metres.
