Chingiz Mehdiyev, on trial for embezzlement of money intended for the Formula 1 race, called Arif Rahimov, son of the late Minister of Youth and Sports, Azad Rahimov, to court.

Although there was information about the interrogation of A. Rahimov in this case, now the details have come to light because the judicial investigation has not started. A. Rahimov was the director of the Baku City Ring (BSH) operating company. Currently, Chingiz Mehdiyev, accused of embezzling 400,000 manats, worked as the company’s department head. His lawyer revealed all the cards near the end of the trial. The defender criticized the fact that the director of the company has not been recognized as a witness and stated that “150 million manats are allocated annually for the organization of the Formula 1 race and that Arif Rahimov should control the expenditure of every penny of the race.” state.”

A. Rahimov said in his statement to the investigation that he was not aware of his employee’s diet or his transfers abroad.
“When we started the work, there were less than 8 months left before the start of the competitions. Therefore, the Ministry of Youth and Sports was tasked with starting the work without delay and completing it in a short period of time. It was allowed to hold a I contract directly with organizations that have experience in this field, so the head of that department, Chingiz Mehdiyev, placed the order Zaur Melikaslanov, who worked as head of the supply department, positively evaluated the company’s proposals. “Dayton Investments LTD” regarding the supply of goods and signed a contract with said company.
According to Arif Rahimov, after the conclusion of the contract, Ch. Mehdiyev drew up the purchase order with the price of the goods, which was signed by him and the head of the supply department. Similarly, contracts were concluded with Mais Malik oglu Abdullayev, who is registered as a natural person with the tax authorities:
“I did not know about the relationship between the parties of the mentioned contracts with Mehdiyev, nor about the appropriation by Chingiz Mehdiyev of the funds allocated from the state budget according to the contracts. At the same time, according to the contract, BSH transferred to “Dayton Investments LTD” (the company founded in the name of Chingiz Mehdiyev’s mother in the Seychelles) – ed.) of the total amount of 359,339.60 US dollars transferred, because the assets did not actually come from a foreign country, Chingiz “I have absolutely no knowledge that Mehdiyev made foreign transfers and purchased property in the United States on behalf of himself and his brother.”
Currently, the investigation into Mehdiyev’s case continues at the Baku Serious Crimes Court. Judges chaired by Leyla Asgarova-Mammadova are considering whether Arif Rahimov needs to be questioned in court. The prosecutor does not object to Rahimov’s interrogation.
The defendants returned only 100 thousand manats of damages in the amount of 397 thousand 852 manats. The rest don’t pay.
