He did so through a video: “Hello Rafa. I wanted to congratulate you on your incredible career. I’m a big fan of yours and it’s been amazing to see you, train with you and have the opportunity to compete with you all these years since we met when we were 13 or 14“.
“The passion and intensity with which you played is something that all players should aspire to and that all fans will remember you for,” he added.
Rafa highlights his “humility, hard work and respect for everyone: “You are probably the only tennis player who has never thrown his racket.”
