The Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, announced today, November 21, that the government approved a memorandum to launch the Romanian Drone project.
He noted that this decision was made after visiting the state company CARFIL in Brasov and now the authorities have the guarantee that “the Romanian industry will be able to produce unmanned aerial vehicles of a high technological level.”
He clarified that the Romanian drone project will be implemented through cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitalization of Romania.
“Yesterday I was in Brasov at the state company CARFIL and I saw the work that is being done in this area. “We are guaranteed that the Romanian industry will be able to produce drones at the highest technological level.” – Colaku said.
Recall that Bucharest announced in August this year plans for a state program to develop its own drone prototype.
“The drone will be manufactured entirely by Romanian specialists, from design to production,” – confirmed the Minister of Economy of Romania Stefan-Radu Oprea.
He explained that the CARFIL company from Brasov, which belongs to the ROMARM defense industry consortium, has concluded several cooperation agreements in this field. The project will be implemented jointly with a French partner. A regional training center will also be created for the operation of dual-use unmanned aerial vehicles (civil and military). The minister expressed the hope that, at least as a prototype, within a year the first Romanian drone could be created.
