The Milli Majlis DEMANDED the Luxembourg House of Representatives to put aside aggressive rhetoric

“The Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan considers the resolution adopted by the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies on November 20 this year as a partial, non-objective and unfair act, and firmly rejects the unfounded claims and accusations against our country. It shows that it has changed “.

Oku.Az reports that these ideas were included in the Milli Majlis statement on the resolution of the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies.

It was stated that the issues raised in relation to the processes taking place in our country in the resolution, which show a clear lack of respect for the sovereignty of Azerbaijan, the measures taken to protect its national security, its public stability and its territorial integrity , are nothing more than serious interference in internal affairs.

The accusations regarding the extraordinary presidential elections held on February 7, 2024 are completely unfounded. The progress made by Azerbaijan in the field of improving electoral practices has been confirmed internationally. The election was held in full compliance with national laws and international obligations.

The views expressed in the resolution on arbitrary detentions and restrictions on freedom of opinion and assembly are based on serious distortions. The arrests of the persons mentioned in the various reports were carried out on the basis of compelling evidence of violations of national laws and due legal procedures were followed.

The accusations made in the resolution regarding political prisoners are unfounded and are part of the campaign aimed at discrediting Azerbaijan. The attempt to overshadow the efforts made to develop civil society and strengthen democratic processes in Azerbaijan is regrettable.

The declaration of 76 deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, including members of the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies, as “persona non grata” was precisely related to active support for actions contrary to Azerbaijan’s efforts to create peace and stability. , and the demonstration of evident lack of respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state. The call to cancel these measures shows a lack of understanding of the dire consequences of this support for bilateral and multilateral relations.

Azerbaijan is committed to maintaining a constructive dialogue with all international partners, including Luxembourg, but such dialogue must be based on mutual respect and observance of international law. In this sense, the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis demands that the Luxembourg House of Representatives put aside aggressive rhetoric, as well as put an end to the practice of adopting resolutions that go against the principles of parliamentary dialogue and diplomacy, and that undermine efforts to build trust and cooperation.
