Demonstrations in working-class neighborhoods of Seville against institutions chanting “too many rats in suits and ties”

Seville’s working-class neighborhoods have had enough of the neglect they suffer from institutions. Shouting “there are too many rats in suits and ties”, they gathered to protest against a feeling they define as abandonment and for which they suffer from rat infestations due to the lack of cleaning services and constant power cuts due to lack of maintenance.

“There are two Sevilles here: the tourist one, the central one and the neighborhood one. There we have absolute abandonment.”” said one of the people present at the demonstrations.

And they said, “Enough is enough.” In Seville, they are six of the 15 poorest neighborhoods in Spainwith an average annual income of less than 9,000 euros.

So they have difficulty having quality health and education servicesas well as serious problems of access to housing.

“We pay more than 50% of our salary to be able to live with dignity in a house. They force us to share an apartment…”, says another participant.
