Kamala Harris challenges Donald Trump to debate her again, days before the presidential elections

She is ready to fight again. On Saturday, September 21, US Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris challenged her Republican opponent Donald Trump to debate her again, this time on CNN, on October 23.

“Vice President Harris is ready to face Donald Trump on stage again”her campaign team wrote in a press release, shortly before the candidate published a message in this regard. “I would be happy to accept a second presidential debate on October 23. I hope Donald Trump will join me.”, She wrote inthus urging her opponent to debate her a few days before the November 5 elections.

During their first face-to-face meeting on September 10, in which Kamala Harris took the lead, the two candidates clashed fiercely over the issues of the economy, abortion, immigration and guns.

Donald Trump so far opposes

Donald Trump’s team did not immediately respond to Agence France-Presse’s requests for comment on whether she might ultimately agree to this new exchange, but the former Republican president has so far rejected the idea of facing her rival again in the November 5 election.

As early as September 12, two days after his debate against Kamala Harris, the latter wrote in particular on his Truth Social platform: “There will be no third debate”considering his June face-to-face with outgoing President Joe Biden, before the latter withdrew from the presidential race.

In the general opinion, it was Kamala Harris who dominated the day on September 10, constantly drawing out her rival on the issues most likely to hurt her ego: participation in her meetings, the discontent of her former political allies, her international reputation… it did not prevent Donald Trump from claiming that, on the contrary, it was he who had ” cattle “ the debate, while attacking the impartiality of the two ABC journalists who moderated the discussions.

Seven key states to win

Forty-five days before the presidential election, the outcome remains more undecided than ever, with Donald Trump and Kamala Harris tied in several of the seven key states where everything will likely be decided.

The septuagenarian Republican will be at a campaign rally early this afternoon in one of them, North Carolina. The former president won this state in the southeast of the country, bordering the Atlantic, during his duel with Joe Biden in 2020.

But her new rival, Kamala Harris, is counting on the mobilization of African-Americans and young people in her favor, two voters re-motivated by her candidacy, to win there in November. Especially since Donald Trump could be hit by a scandal against a gubernatorial candidate whom the Republican billionaire has long fervently supported.

Mark Robinson, who is seeking to become the state’s first black governor, is accused, according to CNN, of having posted controversial messages on Nazism and slavery on a pornographic site in the 2010s.
