Zamora Mayor Francisco Guarido said Monday that “there is a gender bias because “Girls experience more fear, anxiety and feelings of loneliness on social media.” Such an assertion was made during the presentation of the research work “Impact of gender equality on childhood and adolescence in Zamora”, which the municipality presents within the framework of “Child Friendly City”. “The male gender is calmer, has more positive energy, gives them more confidence,” he said.

The study, presented this Monday by the councilor and councilor for equality, Auxi Fernández, was carried out by the professor of the University of Valladolid Almudena Moreno and Manuel Mejías with 220 boys and girls aged 12 to 17through questionnaires in eight centers in the capital, ten ESO classrooms, five baccalaureate rooms and two intermediate professional training rooms.

“Although there is social awareness among boys and girls about what equality is, many of these gender biases still need to be fought from the educational factor, which, in general, are negative for girls and not so much for children,” Guarido said, Ical reports.

The report is an “unprecedented study” in its field, because “rarely, research work of this level has been carried out in the institutes of a city”, according to the city councilor.
