To effectively respond to modern challenges and threats, it is necessary to strengthen the potential of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). This was announced today, October 30, during a meeting between the Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maxim Ryzhenkov, and the Secretary General of the CSTO, Imangali Tasmagambetov.
The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that “during the conversation, an exchange of opinions took place on a wide range of issues on the international agenda, with emphasis on regional and global security problems.”
“The parties agreed on the need to further strengthen the CSTO’s potential to effectively respond to modern challenges and threats,” the statement said.
In addition, the Secretary General informed the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus about the progress of preparations for the upcoming meetings of the CSTO statutory bodies on November 28, 2024 in Astana. In turn, Maxim Ryzhenkov thanked Imangali Tasmagambetov for her support to the Second Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security, as well as for her initiative to hold within its framework a thematic round table dedicated to analytical support for the activities of the CSTO to ensure regional security. He also highlighted that this event fully fits into the theme of the Minsk Conference and is an important addition to the main agenda of the international forum.
Let us remember that the Second International Minsk Conference on Eurasian Security will be held from October 31 to November 1, 2024. Representatives of the political, expert and analytical community from about 30 countries are expected to attend. The goal of the conference is “a frank and inclusive discussion on the prospects for Eurasian security in the context of the crisis of the existing world order, the chronic military-political contradictions between key actors and the almost complete lack of communication between them” .
