At least 38 people were killed as a result of an attack on a convoy by unknown assailants in the Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan.

It is reported that within an hour, unknown persons opened fire on a convoy of cars heading towards Peshawar, the administrative center of the province. Among the dead are women and children. The victims were hospitalized.
President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the attack and ordered an investigation.
According to the television channel, clashes have been taking place between different tribes and parties in the province for several months, as a result of which some roads, including the highway linking Pakistan and Afghanistan, have been closed.
