A major fire in an industrial warehouse in the industrial zone of Silvota, in the Asturian municipality of Llanera, generated a thick cloud of smoke visible from the A-66 motorway which connects the Principality to León. The fire, which broke out at 1:30 p.m. and was declared contained at 5 p.m., caused no injuries.
112 Asturias asked the population of the municipality of Santa Rosa, Llanera, to confine themselves to their homes, close doors and windows and place damp cloths in the cracks due to the possible toxicity of the smoke. If you are on the street, it is recommended to go to a closed place. Population measures were lifted mid-afternoon, with the fire considered contained, while work is underway to completely extinguish it.
The Principality Emergency Service (SEPA) has alerted motorists of the need to drive with caution and, if possible, avoid driving in this area.
More than a dozen SEPA firefighters are participating in the extinguishing work. The collaboration of the firefighters of Oviedo and Gijón was also requested. Patrols from Citizen Security, Traffic Group and Seprona, as well as officers from the Local Police, attended the scene.
The Platerpa plan
The Minister of Development, Local Cooperation and Fire Prevention, Alejandro Calvo, has decreed the activation of the Territorial Plan of the Principality of Asturias (PLATERPA), with zero status. This situation includes localized emergencies which can be controlled by the means and resources available in the area resulting from an unfavorable evolution of the industrial fire.
The Emergency Coordination Center of 112 Asturias received the notice at half past one in the afternoon through a telephone call alerting that a container was on fire near the facade of a warehouse, with appliances household appliances, located on the main street of the polygon. The fire spread to an adjacent industrial warehouse containing flammable materials.
The ship borders the railway line and the A-66, which were not affected by the danger of toxic fumes, as indicated by the armed institute.
