It is 20N and at Carne Cruda we put the microphone back in the fight for the historical memory of our country and anti-fascist resistance. And we do it in a very special “Fight Club”, in memory of “those from the mountains”, of the fight of the MAQUIS, these clandestine guerrillas, and we do it with one of the last living maquis in our country: Jeanne Busquetsalthough his fellow guerrillas knew him as “el Senzill”.

Born 96 years ago in Barcelona into a modest family, his father was a member of the CNT and he was immediately in contact with anarchist ideas. At the age of 18, he fled to France, where he joined the CNT and met other anti-Franco Spanish exiles. And in September 1948, he joined Marcelino Massana’s guerrillas. He was arrested and tortured in Barcelona and served 20 years and 6 days in Franco’s prisons, where he lost dozens of companions and suffered hunger, torture, punishment, forced labor and much hate.

He left at the age of 41 and has been in exile in France until today. And his fight continues: he asked the Spanish state to recognize him as an anti-Franco guerrilla and demands compensation of one million euros for the consequences left by two decades of confinement in Franco’s prisons. In this program we tell this story and we also talk about the anti-Franco resistance against this regime which, on November 20, 1939, launched a sinister funeral procession to exalt Primo de Rivera three years after his execution. A fact that the regime used as a founding myth: the redeeming martyr of the new homeland resurrected from the ashes of war. This is the common thread of “Presents”, the latest novel by Paco Cerdaa chronicle of this era which recovers the story of Primo de Rivera and his mythification, but also that of the invisibles: reprisals and reprisals condemned to death, confinement or oblivion at the end of the civil war.
