The total number of deaths recorded due to DANA and the floods that affected the province of Valencia on October 29 rose to 221after the recovery of the lifeless body of a woman in the La Torre district of the provincial capital, while the number of active disappearance cases fell to seven.

This is reflected in the report with the history accumulated since the episode, prepared by the Data Integration Center (CID) and which was updated at 8 p.m. this Thursday, November 20.

Autopsies have already been carried out on 220 of the 221 deceased and 219 of them are fully identified: 170 by fingerprints, 45 by DNA analysis and 4 by hospital identification during their lifetime. There are therefore two bodies awaiting identification, those corresponding to the woman found yesterday in Torrent and the victim found today in La Torre.

Thus, compared to the results of the day before, Wednesday November 20, in the last 24 hours there was the entry of a new death in the facilities of the Institute of Legal Medicine of Valencia (IML).

The number of identifications remains at 219 as on Wednesday and the number of active files for disappearance went from eight to seven due to one person’s location.

On the other hand, the families of the 219 fully identified dead have already taken care of the mortal remains of their loved ones and were able to celebrate the corresponding funerals.

The CID is a technical body composed of a Forensic Office and an Office of the State Security Forces and Corps, with specialized agents from the Civil Guard and the National Police, and its main function is to collect and supervise the various criminal complaints. . identification carried out by the different institutions of people who died during multiple victim events, under RD 32/2009.

This center is the only one authorized by this Royal Decree to publicly provide to the media, through the Communications Office of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community, official figures relating to the forensic and forensic treatment of the event .
