“A number of diseases that can lead to hearing loss can develop against the background of stress,” says Yana Nikitkina, a Russian otorhinolaryngologist.
Doctors often find hearing loss in children due to genetic disorders. Heredity also plays a role in hearing loss in adults.
“There are people who, even after being exposed to loud sounds, can suffer from hearing loss. This is probably due to some genetic mutations,” Nikitkina said.
According to him, people of all ages are susceptible to hearing loss. Inflammatory ear diseases are more common in young people, and hearing loss associated with age-related damage to auditory nerve cells is characteristic of the elderly.
“The most important thing to recover hearing is early diagnosis and timely treatment,” the doctor concluded.
