The leaders of the QUAD (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) countries, namely the United States, India, Australia and Japan, expressed their support for a comprehensive and sustainable peace in Ukraine, without mentioning Russia. This follows from a joint statement after the meeting published on the White House website on September 21.
“We reaffirm the need for a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in accordance with international law, in conformity with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, including respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.” – says the document.
The QUAD leaders also expressed concern about the negative consequences of the conflict in Ukraine for the countries’ overall food and energy security.
