For the first time, American surgeons performed a fully robotic double lung transplant on a 57-year-old patient suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

“The use of automated robots allows us to maximize the chances of success and reduce the negative consequences for the body caused by surgery, as well as reduce the intensity of pain after surgery. Life is of great value to us,” said Stephanie Chang, Associate Professor at New York University (USA).
According to him, for the first time scientists successfully used an automated surgical system and performed a complex operation to remove lungs and replace them with donor organs with minimal surgical intervention.
