Leaders of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QUAD) countries (the United States, India, Japan and Australia) have called for a reform of the UN Security Council (SC) to include new permanent members.
Oku.Az According to a joint statement on the results of the meeting published on the White House website,
“We will reform the UN Security Council, recognising the urgent need to make it more comprehensive, transparent, effective, democratic and accountable by expanding the categories of permanent and non-permanent members of the UN Security Council,” the document states.
The QUAD countries believe that the expansion of permanent seats on the renewed Security Council should include the representation of new countries from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
