The government delegate to the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, denounced the fact that the president of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, “prevents” to speak on Constitution Day which, as he recalled, the two Administrations had a tradition of organizing jointly until last year.
In a statement, the Delegation indicated that, given this situation, it has decided to organize another institutional event on December 4 at the Gallery of Royal Collections, where it will commemorate andthe 46th anniversary of the Constitution and to which he invited all Madrid institutions.
As he denounced, the decision was taken after the government of the Community of Madrid “showed its intention to go further in its strategy of confrontation” with the Spanish government, preventing the delegate from “speak at an event which, until last year, was jointly organized between the two Administrations“.
“This is why the Spanish Government Delegation in Madrid has made the decision to organize an event in which the spirit of harmony included in the Constitution is reflected,” they defended.
In statements sent to the media, Martín emphasized that this is the moment on which institutions must focus “by sending messages of unity to citizens”, reiterating the accusation against Díaz Ayuso of breaking the tradition of jointly organizing the Magna Carta event. “This year he even decided to go further, that is to say, to silence the voice of the Spanish government in the event of a celebration of the Constitution,” he stressed.
For the government delegate, it is “un unacceptable and unacceptable approach“. “Freedom for Ayuso, we already know what that means silence the voice of the Spanish government during the celebration of the Spanish Constitution”, said. In turn, he announced that the Delegation will organize a new event for the Constitution in the Gallery of the Royal Collections, where a special remembrance of the victims of DANA will be held which particularly hit the Valencian Community.
