When do the Christmas holidays start and end in Andalusian schools?

The Andalusian school calendar for the 2024-2025 school year is full of key dates that mark rest periods for students and teachers. One of the most anticipated times of the year is Christmas holidayswhich offer an extended break to enjoy with family, relax and recharge before starting the second academic term. This year the Christmas holidays will include a total of 17 days, from Saturday December 21 to Monday January 6 of 2025, Tuesday January 7 being the official return to class day.

The last day of school before the holidays will be Friday, December 20.time when students will say goodbye to the term. This break coincides with the celebration of several important holidays, such as Christmas, New Year and Three Kings Day, making this period a season full of traditions, family reunions and events.

December long weekend

Although this is the longest rest period in the course, it is not the only one. At the beginning of December, Andalusian schoolchildren also benefit from a short break thanks to national holidays: Constitution Day, December 6and the Immaculate Conception, December 8. This year, the public holiday from Sunday 8 is moved to Monday 9, thus generating a four-day long weekend which extends from Friday 6 to Monday 9 December. Students must only be present in class on Thursday 5 before this break, to resume their school activities on Tuesday 10. This long weekend is also an opportunity to revise before the final exams of the term, usually scheduled at this time – there.

A moment of celebration, but also a logistical challenge

The Andalusian school calendar is established each year by the territorial delegations of the Junta of Andalusia. These entities are responsible for setting key dates, including the start and end of classes, Christmas, Easter and other public holidays, as well as specific non-school days.

And for many families, Christmas is not only a time of celebration, but also a logistical challengebecause balancing work and childcare can be complicated. However, this period offers the opportunity to create special memories with them and to enjoy the different Christmas activities (visits to nativity scenes, Christmas parks, heralds, parades, illuminations…) organized in practically all the towns of Andalusia . .
