Sánchez closes today the bilateral meetings prior to the Conference of Presidents with Illa, Mañueco, Vivas and Imbroda

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, concludes his series of meetings this Friday with regional presidents as part of the new financing system agreed for Cataloniaand he will do it by meeting the Catalan Salvador Illa (PSC), the Castilian-Leonean Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, the Ceutí Juan Jesús Vivas and Juan José Imbroda of Melilla, of the PP. These meetings end this Friday before the Conference of Presidents takes place on December 13 in Santander.

The socialist Salvador Illa, invested president of the Generalitat of Catalonia with the votes of the ERC, thanks to the agreement for a new financing system for this autonomous community, will be the first to meet Sánchez in Moncloaat 10 a.m.

At noon he will receive Fernández Mañueco, president of the Junta de Castilla y León who has already announced that he will express to the head of the Executive his position against a concert for Catalonia because, according to him, puts welfare state resources in crisis in all autonomy.

The presidents of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, and of Melilla, Juan José Imbroda, both of the PP, will close the debate at respectively 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.. Imbroda expressed his intention to discuss customs issues with Morocco with Sánchez, as the president of Ceuta will do. Both will focus largely on economic issues and immigration.

Everyone except Ayuso

With this day of meetings in La Moncloa, all the presidents of the autonomous communities and cities will have met Pedro Sánchez, with the exception of that of Madrid. Isabel Díaz Ayuso, who did not want to attend the call.

Most regional presidents, especially the most popular, but also others, such as the Castilian-Manchego socialist Emilio García-Page, have declared to the President of Government, during meetings held in recent months, his position against bilateral negotiations which he maintained with the Catalan parties.

In addition, they defended that this issue be discussed in multilateral frameworks such as the Conference of Presidents and the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council, which integrates economic advisors to the Treasury. At the same time, the vast majority expressed a position contrary to the very content of the agreed system, which they described as a Catalan concert or quota.

At this stage, the exceptions came from the Lehendakari, Imanol Pradales (PNV), or the Navarrese president, María Chivite (PSN), both representatives of communities excluded from the general financing regime and having a quota or a in concert with their own prosecutor. . Even the socialist president of Asturias, Adrián Barbón, was critical during his meeting with Sánchez. on the single financing agreement in Catalonia.

In any case, the meetings with the regional presidents also largely focused on the issues specific to each territory, both in the cultural field and in that of public works or industrial and economic projects, to name only those of the treated. Regional funding, as well as housing, immigration and health, will be the topics of discussion at the Conference of Presidents to be held on December 13 in Santander.
