Europol proposed a reward of 50,000 euros by a 27-year-old young man born in Palma, with dual Spanish and Moroccan nationality, for his alleged involvement in the attack suffered by Alejo Vidal-Quadras in Madrid on November 9, 2023, a little over a year ago.
According to information released by the European Police Agency and Politie, the Dutch police, the suspect’s name is Sami Bekal Bounuouare, although he is also known by the nicknames “Colomo”, “Pancho”, “Panchito” or “Swilleh”.
In addition to his alleged involvement in the attack against the former Spanish politician, who was hit in the face and seriously injured, Bekal is also wanted for having organized the attempted assassination of an Iranian activist in Haarlem (Netherlands) in June 2024 and 2024. be involved in the murder of another man in the Dutch town of Capelle aan de IJssel in 2021.
According to police data, the suspect was born in Mallorca but has lived in the Netherlands since 2010, mainly in Rotterdam. However, in recent years it has also been implemented in Colombia, Brazil, Turkey, Qatar and Spain.
His whereabouts are now unknown, which is why Europol and Politie have offered a reward of 50,000 euros to those who provide information allowing him to be located, reports the Europa Press agency.
Currently, eight people are detained as part of the investigation being carried out by the General Information Commission (CGI) of the National Police to elucidate the attempted assassination of Vidal-Quadras and which remains open.
The latest arrest took place last Tuesday in the Granada town of Pinos Puente. The suspect, a 25-year-old Spaniard, was placed in temporary prison on the orders of National Court judge Santiago Pedraz.
