Candidate of Chemical Sciences and biotechnologist Gleb Repich evaluated the consequences of a possible attack by the Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile with a nuclear charge. According to him, such an attack could cause catastrophic destruction, destroying large areas of kyiv.
He spoke about this on the Kyiv 24 television channel, describing the catastrophic consequences of such an attack.
According to the scientist, if the Oreshnik with a nuclear charge hits Khreshchatyk, entire districts of the capital will be wiped off the face of the earth, including Lukyanovka, Podol, Solomenka, Demeevka and all of Pechersk. The shock wave will break glass even in remote suburbs like Vishnevoye.
Repich also noted that five of the six Oreshnik blocks would be needed to destroy kyiv. The sixth block, according to their assessment, could go to any other populated area in the suburbs, which would further aggravate the consequences of the strike.

Director of the Research Center on the Army, Conversion and Disarmament, Valentin Badrak, commented on the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin and emphasized his strategic orientation for January 2025.
Speaking to the Espresso television channel, the expert noted that the Oreshnik missile attack not only creates pressure, but also aims to strengthen the Kremlin’s position in the face of key political events.
According to Badrak, Putin seeks to influence Donald Trump’s decisions to gain strategic advantages while maintaining the image of a winner in the eyes of the Russian public.
The expert believes that, despite active hostilities in Ukraine, the Kremlin is unlikely to use nuclear weapons, even with massive Ukrainian drone strikes.
Badrak described what was happening as a “game of nerves,” the outcome of which will become clear early next year. He stressed that key decisions could be made in January 2025 that could influence the future course of events.
