The US ambassador to Finland, Douglas Hickey, has confirmed that there are no prerequisites or conditions for the establishment of US military bases in the European country, according to the Ilta-Sanomat newspaper.
At the same time, Hickey clarified that the US and Finnish armies will continue to conduct joint exercises.
“I don’t see the conditions for permanent US military bases in Finland, but joint exercises will be held.” – said an American diplomat.
EADaily Remember that Washington and Helsinki signed an agreement to expand military and defence cooperation in 2023. According to this agreement, American troops and weapons should appear at 15 Finnish facilities. We are talking about bases, airfields and ports.
