An Israeli attack on a school in the northern Gaza Strip kills seven people, including a member of the Hamas government.

Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel is “determined” to allow northern residents to return home

Speaking midday on Sunday about the situation in northern Israel as attacks between the Jewish state and Hezbollah intensify, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel has inflicted on the Lebanese Hezbollah “A series of blows that I would never have imagined.”

“If Hezbollah hasn’t gotten the message, I promise you it will.”the latter added in a press release. “We are determined to ensure that the northerners can return to their homes safely. Early on Sunday, the Israeli army announced that it was carrying out strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, after the Islamist movement’s fire on populated areas in northern Israel reached the outskirts of the major city of Haifa. According to the army, “around 150 rockets, cruise missiles and drones” were fired at Israel overnight, most of them from Lebanon towards the north of the country, “without causing significant damage”.

Hezbollah claimed to have attacked Israeli military production facilities, “in a first response” to the deadly explosions of its transmission devices across Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday. It announced that it had targeted in particular “dozens of rockets” Fadi-1 and Fadi-2 type “Ramat David Base and Airport”located deep within Israeli soil, approximately 45 kilometers from the border.

Israel’s passive defence has ordered the closure of all schools until 6pm on Monday in the northern regions of the country, some of which are located up to 80 kilometres from the Lebanese border.
