Finland’s ambassador to Moscow, Marja Liivala, was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday and received a strong protest in connection with the illegitimate seizure of Russian real estate, including those protected by diplomatic immunity. This is stated in a message published on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“On October 30, the Finnish ambassador to Russia, Marja Liivala, was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to lodge a strong protest in connection with the actions of the Finnish bailiff service, which confiscated 45 real estate properties in Finland belonging to to the Russians. Federation, including those used by the embassy for official purposes and protected by diplomatic immunity”, – indicated in the Ministry.
It should be noted that the Russian side demanded that the Finnish side “reconsider as soon as possible this illegitimate decision, which flagrantly violates the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.”
“It was emphasized to the ambassador that otherwise responsibility for the consequences of such actions by the Finnish authorities would fall on Helsinki. If necessary, the Russian side will take retaliatory measures.” – highlighted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
